Spain is a very popular destination to come to study. From many Latin American countries such as Argentina, Colombia, Mexico… many students come to study. That is why today we are going to talk about the grants, scholarships and programmes that exist to come and study in Spain.
MAEC – AECID Scholarship
The programmes of this Call offer training and learning opportunities in certain cultural, scientific and academic disciplines for citizens from Latin American, African and Asian countries. There are different types of scholarships, depending on whether you are studying for a master’s degree or a doctorate. You will be able to cover your expenses with a monthly tuition fee, medical and accident insurance.
Carolina Foundation Scholarship
The Carolina Foundation scholarships are awarded annually. Their objective is to broaden the studies of university graduates and the specialisation and updating of knowledge of postgraduates, researchers, teachers, artists and professionals from Latin America. Among the different scholarships offered are those focused on postgraduate and doctoral studies:
- Scholarships for master’s degrees and specialisation courses: aimed at graduates from a member country of the Ibero-American Community of Nations with a curriculum of academic excellence.
- Doctorate scholarships: aimed at teachers from Latin American universities who wish to obtain the academic degree of doctor.
The scholarship application must be made online. In addition, as long as you meet the requirements, you have the option of participating in more than one of the programmes offered by the Carolina Foundation.
CINDA Programme
This academic institution is made up of leading universities in Latin America and Europe and promotes student exchanges between member universities. Each year, the member universities present the number of places available. It is up to your university to officially introduce you to the host university. You can only participate if your university is a member of CINDA. Its main objectives are to offer exchange opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students. And to promote the mobility of academics in the field of research, teaching, innovation and technology transfer. The programme waives academic fees for students who participate in it, guaranteeing the recognition of the studies undertaken. You still have to cover the costs of travel, health insurance and living expenses during your stay, but some universities offer grants for accommodation and food.
AUIP Scholarship
The Asociación Universitaria Iberoamericana de Postgrado (AUIP) offers mobility grants to students, professors and researchers for postgraduate studies in Andalusian universities. This programme supports mobility to achieve an academic link between institutions in Ibero-America associated to the AUIP. Two types of scholarships will be awarded, a financial aid with the transfer or a financial aid with the stay. To this end, the Ibero-American University Association for Postgraduate Studies (AUIP) promotes numerous postgraduate and scientific research programmes and facilitates the exchange of professors, researchers and students. Always guaranteeing an optimal academic level.
Erasmus SUD-EU
This scholarship programme promotes the mobility of students and workers between Latin American countries and Europe. It is an association of 20 universities in South America and Europe. You can apply for mobility to do a degree, doctorate or post-doctorate as long as you have not lived, studied or worked for more than one year (during the last five years) in the chosen European country.
If you want to study in Spain, with this programme you can apply to the University of Burgos and the University of Deusto, in Bilbao (Basque Country). We recommend that you check the requirements of each university when applying, as well as their academic programme.
