As students we are constantly faced with an avalanche of information, and if we add to this the upcoming exam dates, our memory can be short, making it useful and helpful to have or make study templates for exams.

These study templates are the ones that help to have a better organisation of the information, and greater order in terms of dates of tasks, activities and exams to present. This ensures that no assessment is forgotten, prioritising each of the exams according to the date on which they are presented.

Weekly calendar

The weekly calendar offers students a way to organise and follow up the activities and exams they have during the week, so it should include all the pending evaluations to be done. It also makes it easier to identify how much free time they have during the week.

It’s common to use tools such as Excel, although there are more and more easy-to-use templates that allow its development.  It is important to be realistic about the time you have to study for exams, taking into account the hours of rest and leisure, as you cannot saturate your timetable.

Monthly calendar

Monthly calendars are useful tools for organising and scheduling exam study throughout the month. Unlike any other type of planner, it helps to have a medium-term overview of what needs to be done and what needs to be studied, allowing you to prioritise tasks.

With the routine you would say it is normal not to retain exactly what are all the exams that you have pending or that are arising, so having this type of planning templates is essential and an incentive to meet all the marked assignments.

Syllabus

A syllabus is a document that describes the content of an examination step-by-step, providing guidance on the topics that make up an assessment. It is usually prepared in advance and can cover a single topic, a lesson or a whole unit, depending on the length of the examination.

Task Checklist

The Task Checklist is a tool that helps students to have a more objective view of what needs to be done to prepare for exams.

It consists of 5 steps:

• Identify: For this, what you need to know is what material or tasks you have seen during lectures. Because sometimes in exams only certain topics are covered and you do not need to go through all the material.
• Note down: A list should be made in which the pending activities or tasks to be completed are recorded. General information about the subject, such as the name, date, time of the exam, homework and assignments to be assessed, should also be recorded.
• Evaluate: Once it is clear what is to be studied and what tasks are pending, a self-evaluation is carried out in order to know how well the subjects have been mastered. And to know which ones deserve more study time.
• Plan: At this point it is already known which tasks are pending and what should be studied for the upcoming exams. It only remains to establish the form of study, making a calendar of exams and tasks, in order to distribute the time in this way.
• To do: Once everything has been programmed, what remains is to carry out each of the activities and study for exams under the schedule. Always respecting the times established for each activity.

Table of contents

This is equivalent to what we know as a book index, serving students as an indicator of exams or pending tasks. It is one of the simplest templates available.

As it is just as it appears in a book, students can organise it and have their notes according to the subject of the exams, especially for those evaluations where there is a wide margin of presentation, allowing them to add information whenever necessary.
