What does the MEC Scholarship residence grant consist of?
The MEC Residence Grant is a financial aid granted to students who, for one reason or another, have had to move far from their family home to a student residence.
In short, it is a monetary amount that is paid to students who cannot live in their family home because it is significantly far away from their centre of studies.
Requirements to apply for the MEC scholarship in your residence hall
As mentioned in the previous point, the MEC grants are an aid that the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training grants in some cases to foreign students. For this reason, at the time of applying you will need to meet these requirements;
- You must be studying on campus and be fully enrolled.
- You must be enrolled in one of the following academic levels:
- Baccalaureate, first or second year
- Intermediate or higher level
- Professional artistic studies
- Sports studies
- Artistic studies at a higher level
- Higher religious studies
- Higher military studies
- Any university course adapted to the European Higher Education Area in order to obtain a Master’s degree.
- Any university degree that leads to the award of Bachelor’s, Engineer’s, Master’s, Architect’s degrees, among others. Diploma and technical degrees are also valid.
- You must prove the need to live away from your family home for the entire duration of the course, stating that the study centre is far from your home and that you have serious problems with means of communication and school schedules.
- The amount of this allowance may never exceed the actual cost of the service.
You should also bear in mind that there are some economic requirements that make it possible to fix all the amounts of the student residence grant, in each call for applications a family income threshold will be established that cannot be exceeded.
The threshold in force at the date of this article specifies that you cannot exceed threshold 2, which amounts to 22.594,00€.
