This apple cinnamon cake is a delicious and easy option for Christmas Day. To make it, start by preheating the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Next, mix 1 cup of flour, 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon and 1 pinch of salt in a large bowl. Add 1 beaten egg and 3/4 cup sugar to the flour mixture and mix well. Add 1/2 cup oil and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and mix again until smooth.

In a separate bowl, cut 2 large apples into thin slices and mix with 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon. Place the apple mixture in a greased tart pan and pour the batter over the apple layer. Bake for 45 minutes or until the tart is golden brown and crisp on top. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Gingerbread biscuits

The next of the easy Christmas recipes we recommend are gingerbread biscuits, you will need the following ingredients: 2 cups flour, 2 teaspoons powdered ginger, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 3/4 cup butter at room temperature, 1 cup sugar, 1 egg and 1 tablespoon honey.

To prepare the biscuits, follow these steps:

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, cloves, nutmeg and salt.
In a separate bowl, beat the butter and sugar until smooth. Add the egg and honey and mix until smooth.
Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix well.
Form balls of dough with an ice cream scoop and place on a greased baking sheet, leaving a little space between each ball.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown on top. Let the biscuits cool for a few minutes on the tray before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Homemade nougat

To make nougat at home, you will need: 500g raw almonds, 200g sugar, 3 eggs, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 pinch of salt, 1 tablespoon water and olive oil to grease the mould.

To prepare the nougat, follow these steps:

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
Toast the almonds in the oven for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Let the almonds cool for a few minutes before peeling them.
Place the peeled almonds in a food processor and grind to a fine paste.
In a large bowl, mix together the sugar, eggs, honey, salt and water. Add the ground almond mixture and mix well.
Grease a nougat pan with olive oil and pour the almond mixture into the pan.
Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the nougat is golden brown on top. Let the nougat cool for a few minutes in the mould before unmoulding and slicing.

Chocolate truffles

The last of today’s Christmas recipes are chocolate truffles, you will need the following ingredients: 200g of high quality dark chocolate, 1/2 cup of cream, 2 tablespoons of butter, 1 tablespoon of liqueur of your choice (optional), cocoa powder, grated coconut, chopped walnuts or grated almonds to decorate (optional).

To prepare the truffles, follow these steps:

Melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl in the microwave or in a saucepan over medium heat.
Add the cream and butter to the melted chocolate and mix until smooth and silky. Add the liqueur of your choice, if desired, and mix again.
Place the truffle mixture in the fridge for at least 1 hour or until solid.
Form balls of dough with your hands and roll them in cocoa powder, shredded coconut, chopped walnuts or grated almonds, if desired.
Place the truffles in an airtight container and store in the fridge until ready to serve.
