Colegio Mayor Universitario Isabel de España

The Colegio Mayor Universitario Isabel de España began its journey more than fifty years ago, specifically in 1956, when it was recognized as such by the Ministry of Education. During the 2005-2006 academic year the School celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of this long and fruitful journey, which allowed us to reflect on these five decades of the life of the School and our society, but it was also a stimulus for, based on our history and of the principles of our educational project, also think about the future of Isabel of Spain.

The principles of the educational project of this School are not the result of improvisation, but of many years of work, reflection, but above all enormous doses of energy and enthusiasm. A project to train young university students in the art of commitment, common sense and coexistence, in the inseparable exercise of freedom, responsibility and solidarity, and in the appreciation of the culture and arts that enhance our lives.

Through the different activities that the School offers to its students, we try to arouse their interest in everything that puts them in contact with public, cultural and artistic life, making it possible that, in a University as overcrowded as that of our time, the Colegio Mayor is a privileged meeting place between university students, intellectuals and representatives of cultural life. Commitment to these activities is essential, since renewal of a place depends both on academic achievement and adequate involvement in school life and its different activities.

Those who obtain a place at the Colegio Mayor Isabel de España join a community of free and responsible citizens, with the only limit of compliance with the rules set out in our regulations, which everyone has freely accepted before joining the College. At Isabel de España, as in the entire area of the Complutense University of Madrid, hazing or any other individual or collective act that violates the dignity of students has no place, both on the College campus and outside of it. The Isabel of Spain is a space of freedom and responsibility in which everyone must learn to live together with tolerance and respect for their colleagues.
